Fares from 2 January 2018

Many fares are frozen until 2020, although on 2 January 2018 some fares changed on parts of our network. On average, Travelcards and caps increased by 3.4%.

On 2 January the following changed:

  • Some pay as you go and cash fares (paper tickets) on London Overground services
  • Some pay as you go and most cash fares on TfL Rail services
  • Most pay as you go and cash fares on National Rail services
  • Daily and weekly caps
  • Travelcards

London Overground and TfL Rail

Most single fares are frozen.

Some pay as you go fares for journeys on London Overground routes to/from Liverpool Street and on TfL Rail changed, so that:

  • Adult rate fares increased by 10p or 20p
  • Half adult rate fares increased by 5p or 10p
  • Child rate fares for travel in the peak increased by 5p or 10p. Off-peak fares for 11-15 Oyster photocard holders are frozen.

Single paper tickets also increased on these routes and on London Overground south of Shadwell.

National Rail single fares within Zones 1-9

  • Most adult rate pay as you go fares increased by 10p
  • Half adult rate pay as you go fares increased by 5p or 10p
  • Child rate off-peak pay as you go fares for 11-15 Oyster photocard holders are frozen. Fares for travel in the peak increased by 5p or 10p

Single paper tickets also increased.

Pay as you go fares are frozen on the following National Rail routes where they are set by TfL:

  • Chiltern Railways: Amersham to Marylebone, West Ruislip to Marylebone
  • Thameslink and Great Northern: Finsbury Park to King’s Cross/Moorgate, West Hampstead to Elephant & Castle/London Bridge
  • Great Western Railway: West Drayton/Greenford to Paddington

Daily capping (all services)

  • Adult rate daily caps increased by 20p-60p within Zones 1-9, and 30p-£1.10 for journeys including travel beyond Zone 9 (to Watford Junction, Hertford East, Shenfield and Gatwick Airport)
  • Child rate off-peak daily caps are frozen at £1.50 and Anytime daily caps increased by 10p-30p within Zones 1-9. Child rate daily caps increased by 20p-55p for journeys including travel beyond Zone 9 (to Watford Junction, Hertford East, Shenfield and Gatwick Airport)
  • Half adult rate daily caps increased by 10p-30p within Zones 1-9 and 15p-55p for journeys including travel beyond Zone 9 (to Watford Junction, Hertford East, Shenfield and Gatwick Airport)

Weekly capping (all services)

Weekly (Monday to Sunday) capping is only available on contactless at adult rate. Find out more about capping.

  • Weekly caps (for up to 7 days travel ending on a Sunday) increased by an average of 3.4%

Travelcards

  • Adult rate Day Travelcard prices increased by 30p-£1.00. Group Day Travelcard prices increased by 20p-30p
  • Child rate Day Travelcard prices increased by 20p-50p. Group Day Travelcard prices increased by 10p
  • Travelcard season ticket prices increased by an average of 3.4%

River Bus services

  • Adult rate pay as you go fares within and between River Zones Central and East, and between East and West, increased by 20p or 30p
  • Child rate pay as you go fares within and between River Zones Central and East, and between East and West, increased by 10p or 15p
  • Half adult rate pay as you go fares within and between River Zones Central and East, and between East and West, increased by 10p or 15p

Other pay as you go fares are frozen.
